Zantel plans to roll-out undersea fibre-optic cables

Zantel, a Tanzania telecoms company has announced that it will roll-out undersea fibre-optic cables which will be used to connect landlocked countries in the East Africa region. Zantel’s strategy is to eventually make Tanzania a hub for connectivity via undersea cables. The company is 85% owned by Millicom International Cellular and has a 6-10% market share in the Tanzanian market.
