The Digital Realty and Pembani Remgro Infrastructure Fund joint venture has acquired Medallion Data Centres, a co-location and interconnection provider with over 70 carriers and internet service providers. Medallion has two operating data centres in Lagos and Abuja (Nigeria). The company will maintain its management structure under the leadership of the CEO and co-founder Ike Nnaman. The acquisition amount or the stake acquired was not disclosed.
Digital Realty supports the data center, co-location and interconnection strategies of customers across the world in cloud, information technology services, communications, social networking, financial services, manufacturing, energy, healthcare and consumer products. The company is located in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific, Australia, China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.
The Pembani Remgro Infrastructure Fund is an African infrastructure opportunities fund seeking to make equity, quasi-equity and equity-related investments in private infrastructure in Africa. The fund targets greenfield and brownfield projects as well as investments in companies that provide services within the private infrastructure sector. The fund has invested in projects such as the Export Trading Group, Railco Africa, Solar Saver and GridXAfrica among others.
