Menengai Group, which is owned by the Rai family will acquire a water bottling company known as Aquamist, based in Kenya. Aquamist also produces Vital Juices, Aquamist ice teas and flavoured water targeted at premium hospitality facilities. The Menengai Group intends to buy 100% shareholding in the Aquamist through its wholly owned Aquapani Ltd and is currently awaiting approval from the Competition Authority of Kenya. Aquamist is currently owned by the Premji family and the company has a 9% market share in Kenya. The Menengai Group already has a diversified portfolio in the production of soap, cooking oil, soap and wood products.
