Nexford University raises US$8-million in funding round led by New Markets Venture Partners and Learn Capital

Nexford University, an online university platform, has raised US$8-million in a funding round led by New Markets Venture Partners and Learn Capital. Nexford University provides learners with fully online USA accredited higher education and provides the flexibility to study at the learners own pace. Other investors within the consortium were IFC, Future of Learning Fund, AMK Investments, Bisk Ventures, Global Ventures and Future Africa.

New Markets Venture Partners is a leading, growth-stage, double bottom-line investor that scales transformative technology companies that improve education and workforce outcomes, resulting in superior financial returns. The firm has invested in 39 ventures such as Matimatic, Regent Education, Mursion, Pathstream among others and has US$3.1-billion in assets under management.

Learn Capital provides capital and capabilities to help gifted entrepreneurs scale and accelerate human-centric companies. The firm has invested in Coursera, Coursehorse, Dreambound, EdSurge, Edunav, LearnZillion, Amplify, Andela and Ascent among many others. Learn capital has invested in 176 companies and has over US$1-billion in assets under management.
