Sahel Capital has used its agricultural fund to invest in Coscharis Farms Limited, a subsidiary of Coscharis Group based in Nigeria. Coscharis Farms is a rice processor that intends to meet part of the estimated 5.9 million tons annual rice demand in Nigeria. Coscharis Farms currently has 2,500ha of land for rice cultivation and is in the process of installing a 40,000 metric tons per year rice mill and an irrigation system on its farm to enable multi‐cycle rice cultivation. Cascharis Farms began operations in 2014. Sahel Capital is a food and agribusiness‐focused private equity firm and the fund manager of the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN) with U$66 million in investable capital.
