The Swiss Investment Fund for Emerging Markets invests US$10-million in the Africa based Metier Sustainable Capital International Fund

The Swiss Investment Fund for Emerging Markets has invested US$10-million in the Metier Sustainable Capital International Fund which will focus on investing in climate friendly and renewable energy projects. The fund can also be used to invest in waste management and material recycling businesses that are based in Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and West Africa. The fund is already sizeable at US$156-million with the possibility of more funding to come through from more investors.

Metier is a private equity, alternative assets and related advisory services firm that was established in 2004. It has since raised one of South Africa’s largest private equity funds from its participating Limited Partners and has invested in a mix of large businesses such as Astrapak, Libstar, South Piont, Surgical Innovations, Vox Telecoms and York Timbers among many others. It has an established team which ranks amongst the most experienced in the industry.
