Zebu Investment Partners has provided additional equity investment in a buyout of Africa Merchant Capital Trade Finance from its founders. Africa Merchant Capital Trade Finance provides secured and structured trade finance to companies involved in African focused trade. Zebu Investment Partners secured the funding through the Africa Food Security Fund to assist the trade finance company with its mandate to finance trade in commodities such as cocoa, coffee and cashew nuts typically in small and medium enterprises. The amount invested or the stake acquired was not disclosed.
Zebu Investment Partners is a private equity fund that invests in food production and processing on the African continent. Zebu manages funds known as the AAF SME Fund (which can invest up to US$4-million per company) and the Africa Food Security Fund (which can invest up to US$8-million per company). The AAF SME Fund has invested in Interfresh, Matonjeni, Top Crust, Avison, Moablaou and Norish. The Africa Food Security Fund has invested in West End Farms, Royal Oven, IQ Logistica and previously in Africa Merchant Capital Trade Finance.
