Goodwell Investments has invested $2-million in Copia Global, a Kenyan consumer goods e-commerce company. Copia uses technology and a network of 3,000 local agents to deliver goods and services to over 150,000 consumers in the rural areas of Kenya. The company provides savings, convenience, quality, choice and affordability to its low to middle income client base. Copia currently covers 22% of Kenya’s rural population in areas such as Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyago, Machakos, Muranga, Nakuru, Nyandarua and Nyeri.
Goodwell Investments is a Netherlands based impact investor that has invested equity in early stage businesses in financial services, technology, microfinance, mobile payments, rural banking, affordable housing and merchant payment networks among others. The impact investor has raised over $140 million in capital and manages a portfolio of 25 companies such as Paga, Nomanini, Lydia and WhereIsMy Transport. The equity taken up by Goodwell was not disclosed.
