Helios Towers agrees to buy 65 telecoms sites from Eagle Towers SA

Helios Towers, an African based telecoms tower company has agreed to buy 65 wireless telecoms sites from Eagle Towers SA in order to expand its geographic footprint into the South African market. Eagle Towers SA is telecoms tower company established by Avril van Der Rheede in 2012 and has over 1,500 sites in operation with its headquarters in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The 65 wireless telecoms towers acquired are situated in the Western Cape.

Helios Towers owns and operates telecoms towers and passive infrastructure in five high-growth African markets. The company has a portfolio of 6,991 towers in Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo-Brazzaville, Ghana and South Africa. Helios Towers employs over 400 people directly and supports over 7,000 contractor employees who are engaged in the maintenance and security of its tower network. The company is listed on the main board of the London Stock Exchange with market capitalization of £1.3-billion (R29-billion).
