IFC provides $10 million debt funding to Fertiplant Kenya

Fertiplant, a Kenyan fertilizer granulation plant received a loan of $10 million from the IFC which was partly funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program. The funds will go towards the construction of a new plant which will supply farmers in the East Africa Trade Community and in Somalia and Ethiopia with locally-produced fertilizer at affordable prices. The plant will have an annual capacity of 100,000 metric tons and will be located in Kenya’s Central Rift Valley.
