mPharma will buy Kenyan based pharmacy group, Haltons

The start-up pharmaceutical company, mPharma (based in Ghana) is buying the Kenyan based pharmacy retailer, Haltons. This acquisition is typically rare case where a start-up acquires a long-standing market player in the pharmaceutical sector. The purchase price was undisclosed although the Haltons business is estimated to generate revenues of $1.5 million per annum in Kenya. The mPharma start-up was founded by Greg Rockson in Ghana and the company is well known for its ability to improve the efficiency of the pharmaceutical supply chain through its Vendor Management Inventory system already used in over 250 pharmacies in Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia.
