The second largest liquor company in the world, Pernod Ricard, has acquired a majority stake in South African distillery Inverroche. Inverroche was established in 2011 by Lorna Scott as a gin producer of indigenous fynbos gin. The distillery is based in Still Bay within the Western Cape region. The founder will continue to manage the company and maintain a minority shareholding.
French based Pernod Ricard is the second largest producer of liquor brands such as Absolut Vodka, Chivas and Jameson. The company generates 92% of its revenue outside of France from 96 production sites and 17 of its brands are ranked amongst the top 100 by impact.
