Tana Africa Capital secures US$22.5-million loan from The Standard Bank Group

Tana Africa Capital has secured a US$22.5-million term loan from The Standard Bank Group to fund its liquidity requirements to allocate private equity capital in the African continent. Tana Africa Capital is an Africa focused investment company with US$600-million of capital raised since inception. Tana is owned by the Oppenheimer Family and Temasek Holdings. Since its establishment in 2011, Tana has invested in a portfolio spanning the FMCG, retail, healthcare, education and agribusiness sectors with operations in more than 20 countries across the African continent. Tana is managed by a team of investment professionals from offices in Johannesburg (South Africa) and Abidjan (Ivory Coast).

Standard Bank Group is the largest bank in Africa that offers banking and financial services to individuals, businesses, institutions and corporations. The bank operates in 20 countries in Africa with 49,000 staff and a market capitalization of R287-billion (US$17-billion). The bank has a healthy balance sheet with return on equity of 13.5% and tier 1 capital adequacy ratio of 13.8%.
